Supervisor: Lead Pastor

Office Manager position is a 40 hr/wk, 12-month paid position. (8-4, M-F, No weekends, holidays off)

Music Director - Part-time

Are you looking for a creative, energizing, intergenerational music ministry opportunity? Zion Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Minot is looking for a part time Music Director. We desire someone who loves worship, is skilled at inviting, collaborating, and growing the musical offerings of a vibrant congregation, and who is dedicated to living out the love of Jesus. Zion Lutheran’s guiding principles are growing spiritually, actively caring, welcoming and inviting, giving generously, joyfully serving, and living faithfully. Start date mid- August. 


Job Title: Music Director

Job Pay: Approximately 650 hours per year (approx. annually $9,360.00 to $10,608.00)

Job Status: Part-time Salary

Reports To: Associate Pastor for Worship and Congregational Life

Job Qualifications: Plays piano, adequate lead singer, or guitar player. Communication, leadership, and organizational skills, and the capacity for building relationships.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Equip and encourage development of musicians of all skill levels and ages.

·       Connect and build relationships with staff, congregational members, and the greater community.

·       Be available to attend worship services including some Saturdays, most Sundays and Wednesday evenings during the program/school year. Including Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter, and other special services at the request of the Pastors.

·       Organize and schedule musicians. Fill in when needed for music leadership at worship services without musician coverage.

·       Collaborate with pastors, staff, and musicians. Be open to input and is a team player.

·       Implement music opportunities throughout the year; such as youth choir, children’s choir, handbells, adult choir, chimes.

·       Focus on engagement and encouragement not perfection.

·       Lead Praise Band.

·       Maintain catalog of all song Power Point slides for worship.

·       Attend minimum of two staff meetings a month. Staff meets weekly.

·       Store and maintain all musical instruments.

·       Prepare quarterly reports to CCLI and One License.

·       Work with the Pastors, and worship team to coordinate worship music, liturgy, and special music.

·       Keep sufficient filing and organizational practices of copied music for musicians.

·       Regularly rehearse for worship services with music team and special music participants as needed.

·       Prepare and monitors music budget.

·       Willingness to build relationships with congregational members and be present at church events to build and maintain those relationships.

·       Create and maintain inventory of congregation’s musical abilities.

 

Qualifications Preferred:

·       Formal training in music and musical training.

·       Proficient in reading music, and playing piano. Guitar proficiency a plus but not required.

·       Accomplished lead singer.

·       Knowledgeable and experienced in ELCA churches and Lutheran tradition. With a theological foundation that is inclusive and grace filled.
